ALso: can not be locked. The bottom zipper has locking holes , but the top zipper opens to everything in any event and can't be locked.
The straps around the belly are good, and seem to hold the whole thing together securely.
So.....I was expecting a cheap-o bag for the price. What a nice surprise that this bag is AMAZING. Wow! It is really well constructed, holds a ton, and has some great pockets both outside and in that are super-handy.
It's worth noting that the bag has a mesh center 'flap' that runs the full length of the bag smack down the middle, which divides the main bag storage area in half (i.e. you have two separate sections inside, each of which is about 8"x 16" x 35") In other words, if you lay the bag flat on it's side (with wheels to one side and handle to the other) you open the top 'half' up like a suit case to access the bottom section. Or, zip open the zippered top panel to access the top section.
That said, this mesh flap CAN ALSO BE ENTIRELY UNZIPPED so that you just have one jumbo bag, in which case opening the top zippered panel would allow full access to BOTH the top and lower areas as if they were one section.
...However, it's good to know that if you open the mesh panel fully, there is still about a 1" border all the way around (three sides) of the interior where the zipper/closure runs.
Because of this, if you wanted to fit something large inside - say a box that is 16"x16"x35" for example! - you would actually have to limit that box to 16"(H)x14"x33" (i.e. the height would be fine, but you'll lose an inch along the front and you'll lose an inch along both the left- and right-sides). Hope that makes sense! (I know this because I used the bag to pack a tall HEPA filter system(!) ....I was JUST able to squeeze it into the bag but it was definitely a tight fit due to where that zipper panel attaches around the middle of the bag....but lucky for me, it JUST made it!)
Either buy a cheaper bag that weighs less (5lb range) and throw in a roll of duct tape if it rips while you are traveling, and keep replacing when it gives out knowing you won't be getting the best-made bag, or go more expensive and buy a bag that weighs less (7lb range) but is better made than the cheapo ones or Amazon one. I've had cheap bags make it years with duct tape through a lot of travel! Personal preference which way you go- six of one, half dozen of the other. But I just can't see what the use case is for this $65 heavy Amazon bag.
