Biota Bot MM108 5 stages of purification- Air Cleaning System with True HEPA, Activated Carbon Filters and Odor reduction.. Light Weight and Portable, The Biota Bot stands 9 1/2 inches tall, which fits perfect into smaller living spaces like bedrooms, offices, and dorm rooms. The Biota Bot MM108 is the Mighty Desktop Air Purifier with 5 stages of Purification to effectively filter micro particles as small as 0.3 microns like Airborne Allergens, Plant Pollens, Dust, and Mold Spores. With its True HEPA Filter and Activated Carbon Charcoal Filter the Air Cleaner effectively removes Formaldehyde, Smoke, Cooking, and Pet Odors. Finally, The Biota Bot produces 10 million ions per second and is intended to remove harmful bacteria from the air.
- Smart Sensor Technology automatically controls the 2 fan speeds depending on the quality air. Sensor will up the fan speed if it detects any pollutants in the air.
- 2-4-8 hour timer is designed to turn off the air purifier completely once the selected time has elapsed.
- Filters can be placed either way with minimal difference. We suggest to place the black activated-carbon side out since it matches the color of the unit and you can vacuum the dust off to prolong the life of the filter. Only use the tab to help remove filters initially, continue by grabbing both sides vertically before removing completely.

First off, the design is very sleek. Packaging was nice and tight, so no rolling around in the shipping box. Easy to setup, but found the manual didn't have a ton of information, just the basics, which I liked, but would've also liked a section with more detailed info, should I want to know more of how it operates. I'm probably the only person who looks at the manual anyway.
Now for performance. It's hard to know if an air purifier is really doing what it says it's doing. I mean, how are you going to measure if it's producing 10mill anions per second? I had to take out the mind over matter factor, so I ran a few household tests. I would guess the "test area" is about 500-600 sq. ft. and the area bends, which I know this unit will only handle 160 sq ft., but there are no doors to separate the area, so here we go.
Test #1: Bacon.
Should test the activated carbon filters, and maybe the anion production. I love the smell of bacon, but figured I'd see how quickly the smell would clear up. Gone within 1-2 hours without lingering bacon smell. Faster than naturally letting the smell diffuse out.
Test #2: Cigarettes.
Should test activated carbon filters and anion production. Mind you, we sat in front of the window w/ a fan pulling the smoke out, but you know there's always a lingering stale cigarette smell afterwards. With the purifier anion light on and on the higher speed, the smell cleared up within a few hours. Two of us had 1 cig each at night inside, and the smell was cleared up by the morning. With a total of 4 cigs at night, it took half the next day as well. If you close the window after smoking, as the manual says to do when running the air purifier, it would take extra time for the smell to go away, so we left the window and fan on for about 30 min after. This is overkill for most people. My wife didn't smell anything, but I could smell it, so I have to imagine non-smokers in our house would definitely smell it. It was refreshing to wake up with little to no cigarette smell, and that's with just 1 unit covering more area than recommended.
Test 4. Mood.
Should test the anion production. Didn't see a sudden positive mood change, as I've read negative ions could do, but that wasn't really a factor in buying this. I just wanted something for cigarette smoke and allergies.
Test 3. Allergies and sickness - main reason for purchase.
Should test the TRUE Hepa and anion production. I just moved to LA, and my allergies went from bad to worse. The place I moved just gets really dusty. 1 month of dust here = 6 months of dust in my last place. As a result from my allergies, my sinuses were clogged, and I was susceptible to getting sick, which I was for 1 month w/ colds that turned into sinus-like infections. This is the main reason for getting the air purifier. After using the air purifier, there wasn't a big difference in my allergies, but I didn't get as many bigger allergy attacks and well, let's face it, an air purifier can only do so much, and isn't going to rid your entire place of allergens. Once I do a complete once over at my place (again), I'll see how this purifier handles the day to day, where I may update this review. However, I did stop getting sick. Could be my body adjusting to winter/new area, can't really say, but I do feel a difference in the air in rooms that don't have the air purifier, which are more muggier. I don't open the windows bc I'm on the first floor of a busy street, and don't want the dirt coming in. I only open it when I have a cig at night. So, I'm relying on this air purifier to do it's job, which I've been pleased with so far.
What really sold me on the product is that I placed the air purifier on a dresser I bought off Craigslist that came from a smoking home. Even after cleaning the dresser twice and using a smoker's candle, I kept it airing out in the living room. After only a few days of using the air purifier, it left a black ring where the filter sat and black outlines around the things placed on the dresser near the purifier. Annoying, but looking where the filter sat, the paint was cleaner. I can only think that the air purifier sucked the old smoke stains from the dresser, to which I didn't know existed. The black stains don't clean out with wood cleaner, so now I have to sit the purifier on each part of the dresser to hopefully get rid of the black outlines, but it was nice to know what it did. If the black lines are something else, please comment. I would also recommend MamieMac to add in the manual not to place the purifier on or near painted, unfinished surfaces. I suppose that should've been common sense, but oh well. Live and learn.
I found the Biota Bot on Facebook on an air purifier review site. It came with the HEPA filters still in their plastic (they're inside the unit) don't forget to remove plastic before use.
FAN SPEEDS: The air purifier has 2 settings for speed, a low and high setting, with low being the near silent mode , high being a quit white noise putting out the putting out a light breeze. The timer has 2 hour, a 4 hour, and 8 hour timer. The leaf is glows red while the air pollutants are present turning to a blue glow once the air has been cleaned.
ANION Ionizer: The ionizer works great! The ionizer has two different speeds it produces 10 million negative ions per second and removes harmful bacteria from the air. it negatively charges the air leaving your fan to clean air particles leaving the unit, those negative particles bond with positively charged allergens and dust, causing them to weigh too much to stay afloat and they fall to the ground. Negative IONS also kill harmful bacteria in the air.
CONTEMPORARY DESIGN: The photos are what drew me to the review on Facebook but I was even more impressed when it arrived at my house. Even when its not powered on it is a beautiful piece of machinery. I'm into modern minimalist look at my apartment but I leave this unit out even when its not running it because the clean lines and its reflated black coating.
The unit is is efficient with a touch of modern and is an all around well made machine.
