Mutes ring regularly and then you miss all incoming calls
Reviewed in Canada on 4 July 2021Verified Purchase
Of all the wireless handsets I have tried in recent years, this by far has the best audio quality. That is why it is so disappointing. I have two DP720's and both of them have the same issue. Periodically, for no apparent reason the phones go into a a mute mode. It will show an icon on the top with the phone and a red X. According to the manual this just means missed call. But once you see this you can try calling yourself from your cell phone and the phone will not ring. Sometimes you will also see the DND symbol, but not consistently.
In the case where you do see the DND symbol there is a chance you can set it back. But the call features menu won't work. Instead you'll need to go into preferences and set the option for the mute button to act as DND. Once saved you might be able to restore the phone to ringing again by pressing the mute button. More likely than not though, you'll need to factory reset the phone.
The issue though is you can easily miss a day, a week, or even more worth of calls. During that time the phone will look like from a reasonable distance it is working normally. Out bound calls work normally. And at first you will just happen to think a call must have gone to voicemail when you were out of the house. Eventually though it will dawn on you that you are missing calls. I missed a call for a CAT scan appointment, and several other important calls from Doctors offices and relatives because if this issue.
At first I thought this only happened if you let the battery run dead. But over time I have come to realize there is no obvious cause.
After the factory reset you get to resubscribe to the base. Suddenly you will see all those missed call notifications. Last time I reset my phone, just about 10 minutes ago, there were 50 missed calls.
I learned after my missed CAT scan appointment call and I've set my VOIP service to call my mobile phone as backup. So I didn't really miss all 50 calls this time. But there were a number of them where the caller did not wait an adequate number of rings for it to forward to my mobile. And of course I have a house phone, precisely because I'm rather bad about keeping my mobile phone charged.
If it wasn't for this mute issue, this would be a 5 star phone. But because of this problem this phone is practically worthless for incoming calls.

Bastante bueno

Wonderfully easy to set up
Reviewed in Canada on 14 December 2019Verified Purchase
Excellent quality, both in build, sound and use. The interface is excellent, and the sound is honestly superior to land lines. By using a wired connection to the DECT base, latency is largely eliminated. Setup was a breeze but you do have to understand SIP. Those complaining about setup clearly do not. I was so satisfied I bought three more (four total) and will almost certainly buy another four for my place down south. I might even buy one for my mother although I'll have to set that up for her obviously.

This new handset requires updating older bases which is full of pitfalls
Reviewed in Canada on 23 September 2021Verified Purchase
I bought this handset to add to my base and other handsets which I bought some years ago and my dissatisfaction is a result of adding a new handset to old base and system. This handset firmware is current but the base had an old firmware so it needed to be updated. This required logging into the base's webpage, changing the source for firmware which did not work because of a problems so I had to start a thread on the Grandstream forum and work through downloading a firmware file, creating a webserver on my computer, entering the correct url/ip and then updating the base.... FRUSTRATING. The extension i was using was registered to a defunct phone and had to be deregistered. It work greats now.
