I saw the many 1-star reviews complaining about a stuck cable. But was swayed by the overwhelming number of positive reviews.
Well, guess what, this happened to me too. The unit arrived, I plugged it into my PC to try it out, and after about an hour's worth of experiment removed it from the PC. I then tried to remove the USB cable from the unit, and it was stuck fast. I pulled a bit harder, and the entire USB 3.0 socket ripped out of the unit, still attached to the USB cable.
Now the USB cable carries a ripped-out USB socket -- little copper wires dangling. And the unit itself features a hole in the plastic casing where the socket used to be.
I returned the unit to Amazon, for a refund. No, I don't want it replaced.
I have two of these - 1 for use with Lightroom and for storing RAW and JPG Photos, and a 2nd to act as a redundant backup of the first (cause you can never be too safe). I'm getting ready to buy a 3rd one, but of the 900 series, to use as my primary SSD for TimeMachine backup's of my MacBook since i've read its a straight USB-C to USB3.0 Micro cord thats included and its much faster for the larger amount of data thats being transferred.
