I’ve had the fortune (or misfortune) to test 3 different gigabit wireless routers in the past few weeks
The first Netgesr one had software bugs and was unreliable (returned), the second (WAVLINK) rebooted itself every few hours to a day max (returned), and then I tried this router (kept).
However, this router has by far the least 5GHz range of them all. By introducing one block wall, or the glass balcony door, the signal drops to only 1-2bars. The same arrangement with the other two routers gave 4 bars and a much higher gain.
I’ve tried adjusting the antenna and the above results were the best I could get from the 5GHz.
This router does of course have 2.4GHz which covers the rest of our 1 bedroom apartment but is much slower.
+ Cheap + Amazing price for a Gigabit router (this is essential if you want speeds faster than +/- 80Mbit)
- Poor signal strength (even in a 1 bedroom apartment) - Only two LAN ports (we had to adapt our TV to WiFi as we needed three ports, and now there’s no room for expansion). However, with this low price, you could also buy a separate gigabit switch if needed.
