The handlebar can be adjusted to 3 different heights (from the ground up): 32”, 34” and 36”. The 34” height is perfect for my daughter’s body size, and she has room to grow into the 36” in the future.
The deck is 4.16” wide by 21” long (15” open surface area), providing plenty of room for both feet. Now when I say feet, I’m referring to my daughter’s feet. My own feet are much larger. I can fit one foot on without trouble (shoe size 11.5), but not two—at least, not fully. I can get two on if I put my feet sideways. That said, the scooter has a 176 lb. limit, so I can’t ride it anyway. Not without risking damage (I’m 199 lbs.). While it won’t work for me, I can see smaller adults being able ride without problems (my wife, for instance, could).
The handle grip is rubbery with a good texture for gripping, designed to work even when wet. The Razor scooter used a foam grip, but foam tends to wear out over time. We owned another scooter in the past that I had to replace the hand grips on, but I don’t expect I’ll need to on the Mongoose; it uses materials designed to last.
Overall, this scooter is really well built. I owned a Mongoose mountain bike in the past and the quality and build were spot-on. Same goes with this scooter. The only thing that seems a bit of a weak point is the break over the back tire. It’s fairly thin and small compared to some scooters I’ve seen around the neighborhood. I would not be surprised if it got bent out of shape if mistreated. That said, when used properly, it seems to work just fine.
My daughter absolutely loves this scooter. Way more so than the Razor. Not only does it fit her better, look great, and ride smoothly, but the kickstand is quite useful too. No more tripping over the scooter when it’s lying down in the garage. It takes using your hand to put the kickstand down, but easily lifts up with a flick of your foot/toe. We’re quite happy with this scooter, and gladly give it 5-stars.
Cons: handle bars not easy to pull out
brake not very responsive (that was a scary realization)
noisy on bumpy roads/ not a smooth ride
Pro and Con: front wheel seemingly stuck in straight position unless weight is on the scooter. I honestly was soo used to the bottom part swinging that I read the entire handbook to make sure it wasn't put together improperly. Overall i like that it has structure, especially when collapsing it, but it does make for a more rigid ride.
Pro: Super easy to collapse
nice foot grip
great handle bar grips
very light (from what I remember scooters to be)
Super cute color/design
Overall it does what I need it to do. I did buy it through amazon prime used, so it was $38. it came in the original box and seemed brand new. So I am quite happy with my purchase. Maybe a razor scooter is better but all the inexpensive ones were rated for 143 weight max and this scooter is rated for 176 weight max. I am 5' 5" and 130lbs. the scooter is just about the perfect height for me.
side note: forget that pushing a scooter uses your leg and core muscles a lot. Made me feel out of shape going up a hill.
